Caption: It's a busy mother's day down there! The glucose molecule got his mom a box of sweets, the histamine brought flowers ... A sodium atom got bath salts, and the genes had a family portrait taken. Frank, the neuron didn't get a gift for his mother. No, he didn't but he always sends a nice message!

Caption: Why ith the thky blue? Well, it's simple son. Y'see the sunlight? Uh huh. You feel the air? Uh huh. Y'know how sunlight is composed of all the colors in the spectrum, but blue has the shortest, most energetic wavelength so it's easier for it to ping-pong off the oxygen molecules and appear to fill the sky? There was a sale on blue paint at Home Depot. Oh.

Caption: Have you seen your feminist boyfriend lately? We're not dating anymore. I'm just not his type. I thought you said you guys were on a break. His parting words were, "Maybe we'll be together in another life… " … When our molecules are reconfigured into completely different bodies. That's some break.

Caption: The candidates are already campaigning down there. The endorphin seems to be creating a buzz. That adrenaline molecule is energizing its supporters, and the intestine cell is saying it's the best candidate to eliminate waste! Those antibodies are supporting establishment candidates by attacking outsider political newcomers. And the O-negative blood is supporting everybody, giving money to all the candidates! Of course, it's the universal donor!

Image Number: 53962
Caption: 1982. You see WHAT when you look at that cloud, Lemont? I see a star. Clouds are floating water. Water is two hydrogen atoms bonded to one oxygen atom. Hydrogen was the first molecule formed after the Big Bang, and it lived in the hearts of primordial stars. Those stars went supernova, and blew hydrogen and molecules and elements across the universe. Those elements coalesced to form everything in our solar system, including you, and me and the clouds. Even boogers? When I see a booger, I see a star.

Caption: It looks like everybody down there is watching their atomic weight and trying to stay buffed up for beach season! The oxygen molecule is doing aerobics, and chlorine has been swimming laps in the pool all day. Mercury is racing around the track and, of course, the ferrous molecule is pumping iron. That shiny guy just stopped somebody from coming in without paying. He shouldn't do that. The neutron is never charged, and besides ... it's not gold's gym!

Viewable Date: 2008-10-19 Pub. Date: 2008-10-19
Image Number: 27539
Caption: It's election time again down there! As usual, the antibodies are single-issue voters, only concerned about defense. The simple sugars and complex carbohydrates are debating energy policy. I bet the sugars have a quick-fix plan and the carbohydrates focus on the long-term. Stomach and brain calls are arguing about the economy. The stomach always wins the arguments with the brain. It has a plan for expansion! And the hormones are running a third-party candidate this year --- They say he's a real agent of change!

Caption: Just look at all those bio-lobbyists down there! The brain cells are lobbying hard. They want more education funding, I bet! The bluebloods are pushing tax cuts for the rich… and the nerve fibers are part of the communications lobby! The carbohydrates and sugar molecules are working on energy subsidies, as usual. What about the white blood cells? Are they working for anybody? The defense industry, of course!

Caption: The end of another school year down there and things seem the same as always. The white blood cells were the class bullies, always picking fights. The adrenaline molecules disrupted class a lot, always getting the other students expelled. And the DNA molecules were not in the popular clique. Yeah, they're such know-it-alls, telling others what to do all the time! Uh-oh -- the amoebas are coming back from summer school. They failed math again! Of course. They divide to multiply!

Caption: Ballpark. Biolab. Wow! Big crowd at the baseball stadium today. But it doesn't look like they're all having such a good time. The bladder cell is stuck in a long line for the restroom and the skin cell got soaked by beer spilled from the upper deck. The stomach cell looks pretty upset by the hot dogs, too ... There's some empty seats down there. The cholesterol molecule is missing -- stuck in a clogged artery no doubt. And where's that smart brain cell? He stayed home and is watching it on TV!
