Cartoonist(s): Berkeley Breathed
Comic/Cartoon: Opus
Viewable Date: 2010-08-16 Pub. Date: 2008-05-25
Image Number: 23584
Caption: Let's see if I have this straight: Something weird happened last week…and you now know that our world and universe-this room, you, me, everything we say and do… ..comes from "Our Creator." Yes. A "Creator" who controls everything. Determines our destiny. Gives us meaning. Such as it is. His hand made those mountains... Colored the skies... Sculpted the glory that is my chiseled face. Yep. He's here. Right now. We're but the ink freshly flown from his pen. Exactly. Then answer this: who created HIM? I think he's...always just BEEN there. But at this precise moment, you insist that he's drawing me tucking my shirt into my pants while he's propped up in a chair by his pool, wearing a neck brace. In TERRIBLE pain. You're out of your mind. I'm late for church. Hold it. What's going on? The Vicodin is kicking in.

Image Number: 23583
Caption: Rebecca Sue Breathed, Wife #3. Louella Mae Breathed, Wife #9. Puddin' Bear, #17. Aagh. Folks, we know this sort of peek behind the curtain at this feature is unusual, but today, May 17, ten minutes before deadline, we have an emergency. Mr. Breathed has been felled by "Spasmodic Torticollis," a weird affliction akin to being shot in the neck by Mrs. Clinton's taser gun. We're totally not kidding. He's on the kitchen floor. Hence, for the first time in 27 years, despite plenty of help from his large loving family, he won't have time to draw anything but himself trying to draw this. He's asked me to ask all 132 million of you if anyone has any suggestions for the "@#$%!?!" pain. Drop 'em. 'toon boy. Pfizer.
