Caption: If you bear with me, I'll tell you where I buried your … Pardon me … couldn't help but overhear … "Bear with me" makes no sense. You don't have to bear anything. You're the one who's inflicting unnecessary exposition on your friend while you make her waste time waiting for you to get to the point. Since YOU are not bearing anything, it'd be more accurate to say "please bear me." I can't take this. Take what? "This" could mean anything. (Originall published on 2010-02-20.)

Now I know what you're gonna say, you never use a semicolon with a subordinate clause. But just roll with it. Not ... At ... All ... What I was gonna say.

Is that your grandfather who got shot down? The profession died with him, leaving the skies littered with improper uses of the semicolon and misuses of second-person pronouns, yes.
