Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2012-02-05 Pub. Date: 2012-02-05
Image Number: 75448
Caption: I'm thinking of coming out, Susan. I've been keeping it a secret since … Forever. I guess I've been ashamed. But that's selfish of me. To spare myself the social stigma, I've been living a lie. But that just reinforces the idea that it's wrong for people like me to be how we are. It's important for each of us to speak up, to say who we are, because there's safety in numbers. When people realize they know one of us ... ... Then all of a sudden we don't seem so weird or scary or ... wrong. After all these years ... It's time for me to admit I thought Star Trek: Voyager was a great show. Dios Mio, nobody cares about Star Track. TREK!

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2012-01-01 Pub. Date: 2012-01-01
Image Number: 74226
Caption: To be honest, I haven't been on a date in a while. I called you for the first time in three years because I just got out of a long-term relationship with a soul-crushing demon who twisted everything I said to make me seem like I was always wrong … Wrong to like Star Trek, wrong to listen to Lenny Kravitz, wrong to ask her not to yell at me. When I said "Don't yell at me," she would say "Why? You think your special or something?" Pass the salt? I once asked her to pass the salt, and she said "A real man would get the salt himself." She was always doing that kind of thing. I asked you out in the hopes you'll restore my faith in romance before I get cynical and bitter. Note to self: Honesty is not the best policy, Would you excuse me for a moment, as I back away slowly and then start running?

Caption: Thtory. What was that? Thtory. Mommy telth me a thtory at night. Oh, well … Did she ever tell you the story of how a father loved his son so much that he gave up everything to be with him … So that he'd never see the same resentment in his son's eyes that Worf saw in Alexander's in season six episode three of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine? Zzzzz. Everyone's a critic.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2011-12-02 Pub. Date: 2011-12-02
Image Number: 73560
Caption: 1982. What do you think life'll be like in, say … 2012? Well if you look at the arc of mankind's progress, it'll be very different. We went from the Wright Brothers to the moon in just 66 years! At this rate, we'll have colonized Alpha Centauri and met the Klingons by 2012. Plus, we'll all be rich. Momma says every generation does better than its parents. I'll probably be the first one in my family to ever own a home. Not on Mars, though, that'd just be ghetto. Wow, I can't wait till 2012!

Caption: Lemont, I'm so happy for you that you won custody of Lionel. I know you're going to be an incredible father. I don't know that. I didn’t have a father growing up. I don’t know what being a dad means. I may totally screw him up for life. Tap t- What if I don’t know how to teach him to be confident, honorable, brave, ambitious and love Star Trek? What if I somehow make him a bloodthirsty, insecure slacker who's into reality TV? Tap tap tap. DELETE DELETE DELETE. Thanks. Tap t- ta- tap t- I'm so proud of you!

You've heard he's a poor, pudgy Star Trek fanatic who may be mentally unhinged and never calls his mother. Get to the "but" already! Haha, you said "butt!"

Viewable Date: 2011-08-20 Pub. Date: 2011-08-20

Caption: What's wrong, Lemont? I did the math. I first watched the original Star Trek in 1982, 13 years after it ended. It seemed so old. It belonged to my parents' generation. And they were old too. Then Star Trek: The Next Generation started, and it was my generation's Trek. New. Exciting. It's been 17 years since The Next Generation ended. I'm taking away your calculator.

That's only two steps. Well yeh … just repeat step two ten mo' times. First of all, it's Star "Trek." Come to think of it, I'm not even sure we need step one.

As cryptic, disembodied voices go, you're kinda high-pitched. And that's when you asked your Star Trek pin if it thought it was a mistake to stop taking your antipsychotic medicine? After it stopped nagging me.
