Caption:	Food Chain Diorama. A food chain starts with producers; plants which derive energy from the sun. Plants are consumed by herbivores and omnivores, which are consumed by carnivores. Nutrients are returned to the early by decomposers. As far as Ernie's concerned, food chains consist entirely of doughnuts!

Caption:	Geez, Suzanne ... This poor plant is withering - Why don't you water it? I DO water it! ... Stupid plant doesnt know how to absorb water properly. What a ridiculous thing to say. It's a plant. It can't be stupid. Trust me, it's pretty stupid, Tina. It tried to make a flower once - what a miserable failure. Just look how it shrinks back from the sunlight. Poor dummy doesn't know what's good for it. I've never known anyone to go to such extraordinary lengths to not be labled an irresponsible plant-owner. I bet it doesn't even know how to convert carbon dioxide into organic compounds.

In the process of photosynthesis, sunlight is absorbed by the green pigment chlorophyll in plants, and used to turn carbon dioxide and water into carbohydrates and oxygen. This is the basis of the food chain. She's on a diet. Hey, Frank, look at that! I've always wondered why people get fat and plants don't ... Now I know! What's the answer? Plants are light eaters!
