Caption: County Historical Society. These are just a few of the cherished items from our city's rich, illustrious past. Are there any questions before we move on? Do you have the mattress where librarian Mabel Booker hid all that money she embezzled in 1926? Um . . . any other questions? Was Mayor Klutzmann sitting in this chair when he took that scandalous bribe from the railroad in '47? Any non-criminal-related questions? Is this the desk of city founder J. Chester Wallace, who shamefully left town because of his steamy affair, legally, of course, with a woman half his age? Look, kid, do me a favor and go buy yourself a candy bar or something. My mom was right -- studying history did pay off!
